Residence and work permit

For stays longer than 3 months as well as stays in connection with studies or employment, including work as au pair, a residence and/or work permit is required.

The general procedure for applying a residence and/or work permit is described in detail at the homepage of the Danish Immigration Service

The following documentation is necessary:

1. A passport valid for at least three months beyond the validity of the requested permit.
2. A duly filled-in form (available at the Embassy or download).
3. Documentation related to the reason for the application (e.g. marriage certificate in case of application for family reunification and contract of employment in case of application for work permit).
4. A non-refundable handling fee (refer Fees).

For certain countries Denmark has entered into an agreement with another Schengen country about the handling of visa applications on behalf of Denmark. As a rule these agreements only cover applications for short stay visa. A list of cities where other Schengen countries are representing Denmark may be downloaded here
